Stay cool this summer: My favorite caffeine-free iced tea

When the summer heat rolls in, there’s nothing more refreshing than a tall, icy glass of herbal tea. Here at Moji Herbals, I believe staying cool should also mean nourishing your body — which is why I love reaching for caffeine-free botanicals that hydrate and refresh without the afternoon jitters.

Herbs like hibiscus, lemongrass, and rooibos are summer superstars. Hibiscus brings a tart, cranberry-like brightness (and a gorgeous ruby color), lemongrass adds a citrusy lift, and rooibos rounds it all out with a smooth, naturally sweet earthiness. Together, they make a glass that’s as beautiful as it is refreshing.

Hibiscus + Lemongrass Cooling Summer Iced Tea

You’ll need:

  • 1 part hibiscus flowers
  • 1 part lemongrass
  • 1 part rooibos
  • 1 stevia leaf (or sweetener of your choice)
  • Plenty of ice

How to make it:

  1. Combine the hibiscus, lemongrass, rooibos, and stevia leaf in a teapot or pitcher.
  2. Pour over hot water and let steep for 5–7 minutes.
  3. Strain, then let cool to room temperature.
  4. Fill a glass with ice, pour, and enjoy!

Tip: Make a big batch and keep it chilled in the fridge for a ready-to-pour refresher all week long. Garnish with a slice of lemon or a sprig of fresh mint for an extra-cooling touch.
